Cuffe and Noelle Capture First Place Titles in 32nd

HIGHLIGHTS: Aisling
Cuffe of Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., and Chad Noelle of Greene, N.Y., won the
Foot Locker Cross Country Championships (FLCCC) Northeast Regional today. In the girlsÕ race, Cuffe, a senior at
Cornwall Central High School, returned to defend her Regional title. Cuffe remained in a lead pack of four
runners throughout most of the race before making her move after 1.5 miles to
take the race in 17:51. She was followed by Abbey Leonardi from Kennebunkport,
Maine, finishing second (for the second consecutive year) in 18:02, and Megan
Lacy from Marlton, N.J., coming in third at 18:08. Cuffe is a three-time FLCCC
National Finalist, placing fourth at last yearÕs Nationals. Leonardi also
qualifies for the National Finals for the second year in a row.
In
the boysÕ race, cross country newcomer Chad Noelle of Greene, N.Y., and Morgan
Pearson of New Vernon, N.J., ran neck-and-neck during the last mile with a
tight group of runners closely behind. Noelle, a senior at Greene High School,
claimed the title in 15:42, with Pearson right on his heels. Jeff Lacoste of Amherst, N.H., finished
third in 15:45, with the next five runners finishing within the next second.

up throughout the morning.
NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIPS: The top ten boys and the top ten girls in todayÕs seeded races
qualified to compete against runners from the South, Midwest and West Regional
meets in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships National Finals, on
Saturday, Dec.11 at Morley Field, Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif.
